Inspiration
Whilst on holiday in the UK, me and my husband came across an exhibition for the ‘Astronomy Photographer of the Year’. We willingly lost ourselves in the exhibition and he gifted me the book of the exhibition from the Royal Museums Greenwich published by Collins for my birthday. This painting was inspired by the many photos we saw and are published in the book. Specifically, I would like to acknowledge Edward Dobosz, an Australian photographer who took a photo of solar swirls on 24 April 2017. The image shows the structures and processes happening across the sun’s surface.
About Solar Swirls
This is a close up of the sun’s surface, showing the plasma flows moving along magnetic lines. The darker areas are where the plasma cools and flows towards the centre of the sun, only to be warmed and rise as brighter streams of colour depicting the intensity of the heat.
